ISLAMABAD: The government has reduced petroleum prices for consumers, with high-speed diesel (HSD) cut by Rs4.21 per litre to Rs414.75 and petrol by Rs1.93 to Rs390.12, applicable on September 24, 2026.

According to the Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The price of high-speed diesel has been reduced from Rs418.96 per litre to Rs414.75 per litre, providing a relief of Rs4.21 per litre to consumers. Petrol, or Motor Spirit (MS), has been reduced from Rs392.05 to Rs390.12 per litre, marking a decrease of Rs1.93 per litre.

The latest revision means motorists will pay Rs390.12 per litre for petrol and Rs414.75 per litre for high-speed diesel during the applicable pricing period.

The Petroleum Division said the price revision was necessitated by changes in international market conditions, including Platts rates, premiums and incidentals. OGRA determines the revised ex-depot prices under the petroleum pricing mechanism before the government announces the applicable consumer prices.

The reduction in diesel prices is particularly relevant for the transport, agriculture and freight sectors, where diesel is extensively used. Lower diesel prices can also reduce fuel expenses for public transport, goods movement and agricultural machinery, while petrol users will receive comparatively smaller relief.

The latest revision comes amid continued fluctuations in international oil markets, where changes in benchmark petroleum prices and associated premiums directly influence Pakistan’s domestic petroleum pricing mechanism.

The government’s latest notification specifically revises the ex-depot prices applicable on September 24, 2026, with HSD witnessing the larger reduction of Rs4.21 per litre compared with the Rs1.93 per-litre decrease in petrol.
