The federal government has announced plans to establish Pakistan’s largest public facilitation centre in Karachi, bringing passport, CNIC, arms licence, NOC and other services of the Ministry of Interior’s departments under one roof.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the establishment of the Grand Khidmat Markaz during his visit to the Ministry of Interior’s office on I.I. Chundrigar Road in Karachi, where he reviewed arrangements for the proposed facility.

The centre is planned as a one-window facility where citizens will be able to access services currently provided by different departments and organisations working under the Interior Ministry. Dedicated counters of these departments will be established at the centre.

According to the plan, Karachi citizens will be able to obtain or access services relating to passports, national identity cards, NADRA Direct, arms licences, various no-objection certificates and other relevant facilities at a single location.

The initiative is expected to reduce the need for citizens to visit different offices for separate Interior Ministry-related services, potentially making the process more convenient for people who require multiple documents or approvals.

Naqvi directed the authorities to prepare a detailed master plan for the Grand Khidmat Markaz within 10 days. He said the plan should incorporate citizens’ requirements as well as the administrative and modern service-delivery needs of the proposed centre.

The Interior Minister also instructed the relevant authorities to complete the necessary administrative and technical measures for establishing the facility at the earliest.

The proposed centre represents an effort to consolidate federal citizen services that currently involve different departments and offices. By bringing their counters together, the facility is intended to provide citizens with a more integrated point of access to key services.

However, the government has so far not announced a specific opening date or the final operational details of the centre. The master plan, which officials have been directed to submit within 10 days, is expected to set out the requirements and arrangements for the facility.

The announcement is particularly significant for Karachi, where citizens requiring multiple federal services may otherwise have to deal with separate departments and locations. The proposed one-roof model is aimed at simplifying access to these services and improving coordination among the relevant departments.

The facility will be established under the Federal Ministry of Interior and has been described by the government as the country’s largest public facilitation centre.
