ISLAMABAD: Petrol price has been increased by Rs1.19 per litre to Rs394.83 for October 7, while high-speed diesel (HSD) price has been reduced by Rs1.91 to Rs395.85, providing limited relief to diesel consumers.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the government’s daily petroleum pricing mechanism for October 7, with the latest adjustment reflecting changes in international oil prices and related pricing components.

According to the Petroleum Division, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs1.91 per litre, bringing its ex-depot price down to Rs395.85 per litre.

In contrast, petrol price has been increased by Rs1.19 per litre, taking the new ex-depot price to Rs394.83 per litre.

The latest revision keeps the price of petrol close to the Rs400-per-litre mark, increasing the fuel burden on millions of motorists, particularly motorcycle and car users who rely on petrol for daily commuting.

Petrol is widely used by motorcycles, private cars, three-wheelers, taxis, ride-hailing vehicles and other light transport across the country. The Rs1.19-per-litre increase will raise transportation costs for consumers and businesses using petrol-powered vehicles.

For a vehicle consuming 20 litres of petrol, the latest increase translates into an additional Rs23.80 in fuel expenditure. At 100 litres, the additional burden rises to Rs119.

High-speed diesel, meanwhile, is extensively used by buses, trucks, freight vehicles, agricultural machinery, generators and industrial equipment. Its Rs1.91-per-litre reduction offers some relief to transporters, farmers and diesel-dependent businesses.

A consumer using 100 litres of diesel will save Rs191 under the latest revision. However, the reduction may have a limited immediate impact on freight and commodity prices because transportation costs also depend on other operating expenses.

The Petroleum Division said the prices of petrol and diesel are linked to international market prices under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The latest adjustment has been made in line with movements in international market prices, Platts rates, petroleum premiums and other related costs.

The revised prices will apply for October 7, 2026, under the government’s daily petroleum pricing mechanism.
