ISLAMABAD: The government has increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.29 per litre to Rs402.96, while keeping petrol unchanged at Rs377.91 per litre for October 31 to November 2, 2026, adding to fuel costs for transporters, farmers and businesses.

According to the revised ex-depot prices announced by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the diesel price has been raised from Rs400.67 to Rs402.96 per litre, taking it further above the Rs400 mark.

The price of motor spirit (MS), commonly known as petrol, has been maintained at Rs377.91 per litre, providing no change in the fuel cost faced by motorists using petrol-powered vehicles.

OGRA announced the revised ex-depot prices under the petroleum products pricing mechanism approved by the federal government. The new rates will remain applicable from October 31 to November 2, 2026.

The latest diesel price increase is likely to add to operating expenses across the transport and agricultural sectors, where high-speed diesel is a major fuel for heavy vehicles, tractors, tube-wells and other machinery.

Transporters rely heavily on diesel to operate trucks and buses that carry passengers and move essential commodities, food items and industrial raw materials across the country. Higher fuel expenses can increase freight and transportation charges, potentially adding to the prices of goods and placing further pressure on household budgets.

The agricultural sector may also face higher operating costs as diesel is widely used to run tractors, harvesters and irrigation tube-wells. Any increase in farming and transportation expenses can raise the cost of moving agricultural produce from farms to wholesale markets and consumers.

Although petrol prices have remained unchanged, the increase in diesel prices is significant for the wider economy because of its extensive use in goods transportation, agriculture and industrial activities.
