ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani rupee strengthened slightly against the US dollar in the interbank market on Monday, gaining three paisa to close at Rs276.72, reflecting a marginal improvement in the local currency’s value.

During the first trading session of the business week, the US dollar declined by three paisa against the rupee, compared with its previous closing rate of Rs276.75.

The latest movement indicates a slight appreciation of the Pakistani currency, although the change remained marginal.

The interbank exchange rate is closely monitored by businesses, importers, exporters and financial market participants, as fluctuations in the dollar-rupee parity influence import costs, external payments and overall market sentiment.

A stronger rupee can help reduce the local currency cost of imported goods and commodities, although the impact on consumer prices depends on several other factors.

The currency market will remain under close observation as businesses and investors assess the rupee’s performance against the US dollar in the coming trading sessions.
