ISLAMABAD: The government has increased the price of petrol by Rs3.26 per litre while reducing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.01 for October 2, taking petrol to Rs390.66 and diesel to Rs399.34 per litre.
According to the Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the petroleum prices under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.
The price of motor spirit (petrol) has been increased from Rs387.40 to Rs390.66 per litre, resulting in an increase of Rs3.26 per litre.
In contrast, the price of HSD has been reduced from Rs400.35 to Rs399.34 per litre, providing consumers with a relief of Rs1.01 per litre.
The latest adjustment means petrol consumers will face a higher fuel expense, while diesel users will receive a relatively limited reduction.
The increase in petrol price is particularly relevant for motorists, commuters and other users of petrol-powered vehicles, as the price has crossed the Rs390-per-litre mark.
The Rs1.01 reduction in diesel provides limited relief to transport and other diesel-dependent consumers, although the revised HSD price remains close to Rs400 per litre.
The Petroleum Division said the latest changes were necessitated by global events, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals.
The revised prices are applicable for October 2, 2026, under the government’s daily petroleum pricing mechanism.
