ISLAMABAD: WhatsApp is working on new features, including audio-enabled stickers and a redesigned message composition box, aimed at improving the messaging experience and giving users more options to personalise their conversations.

According to media reports, the messaging platform is developing a feature that would allow users to add audio to stickers they create from images. The feature has reportedly been spotted in WhatsApp beta version 2.26.41.11, suggesting that the company is exploring new ways to make stickers more interactive.

Under the reported feature, users creating a sticker from an image would see a sound-wave icon in the toolbar on the right side of the screen. Selecting the option would allow them to add audio to the sticker, either by recording their own voice or choosing an audio file stored on their phone.

The audio clip would reportedly be limited to a maximum of 10 seconds, allowing users to combine images with short voice messages or other sounds when sharing stickers in chats.

WhatsApp is also working on an option to remove the automatic outline that appears around stickers created through its sticker-making tool. The proposed change would introduce an option in the toolbar to turn the outline on or off, giving users greater control over the appearance of their stickers.

In another potential change, the company is testing a redesigned message composition box featuring a two-line layout. Under this design, users would type their messages in the upper line, while attachment, GIF, sticker and photo options would move to the lower line.

The revised layout could change how users access messaging tools while composing messages, although its final appearance and availability remain uncertain.

Both the audio-sticker feature and the redesigned composition box are reportedly under development. WhatsApp has not officially confirmed a public release date for these changes, and features identified in beta versions may be modified or delayed before reaching users.
